Hey everyone. I find it ridiculous I haven't updated since April, but unfortunately, time waits for no one haha.
I've got that one last update that I've been trying to put up for months and months just waiting to be coded and formatted.
Unfortunately, The OC couldn't have ended in a worse year, simply because I have those life-determining highschool exams within two weeks of today, that being the reason I haven't updated or kept in touch for such a long period of time.
But I renewed the domain recently (thankyou Sam!) so that the site will be up at least until December.
I'll be prepared to update the site for the last time in about a month, after all the exams, for all three of you or so left visiting haha. Thanks so much for sticking by it though, you can't imagine how guilty I feel everytime I even think of The OC. Oh and while I'm on the topic of guilt, I'm sorry to all those unreplied emails!
I also have to thank Drew and Mel for reassuring those people who ask of the site. When I do make the final update, I'll be sending an email notification to the several hundred (!) of you on the mailing list to tell you of the update so you don't miss out.
Thanks again for visiting, see you in a little while!

Good evening! Below we have another promised two more interviews.
Now, I'd first like to thank
Corey Price for his cooperation in sustaining this section. He's been a friend of ours for months now and has only been supportive when it came to supplementing this site, so again, we love Corey.
Secondly, I'd like to thank
David Rountree - not only has he done this interview (and a stellar job too), but he's personally sending me a signed copy of the script for episode 1.26: The Strip. How lucky am I!? David, you're a legend.

As usual, the full interview can be read by clicking the above pictures, by clicking the link on the sidebar or by accessing it from the
Interview Archives page, along with a picture and embedded YouTube video.
OC fan Carissa also emailed me earlier in the week with a stunning Season 4
wallpaper submission for our gallery. You can check that out
here.
Next week in interviews: Darryl (Scott Krinsky) or Madison (Dana Davis), depending on whichever I feel like posting at the time haha. We've still got quite a few to post up, so stay tuned weekly!
By the way, thanks for all the positive comments! I get a big kick out of them, so feel free to leave one hehe. Peace out fellas!
[Edit 2] Also added the exclusive interview EN conducted with
Cam Gigandet (Kevin Volchok) last September to the
Interview Archives.
[Edit] I've updated all the existing
Character Profiles so that they're all up-to-date with the final season. I haven't added any new profiles since mid-Season 3, but I plan to. In the meantime, you can check out all the characters up to that point, including a description, image, family relations and romantic relations.
Hello! I'm here to entertain you all with yet another interview. I'm delivering weekly like I promised haha. Introducing Bella Thorne - the very talented actress who played Young Taylor in Summer's primary school flashback.

I'd like to thank
Bella Thorne for her cooperation in sustaining this section. Again, the full interview can be read by clicking the above picture, by clicking the link on the sidebar or by accessing it from the
Interview Archives page, along with a picture and embedded YouTube video.
In other news, Josh Schwartz has confirmed in a recent interview with The OC Insider, a Full Series Box Set is set to be released by late this year. You can check out the article
here.
Check back in a week for a brand new interview and more!
[Edit] Also
finally added the series finale last 5 minutes, so if you want to download it, you can,
here. And if you haven't signed up to our mailing list, you can access the form on the sidebar.
I thought I'd attempt to surprise all of you with a new section! This section is:
Interviews! Starting from today, a new interview with someone who has been on the show will be posted every 1-2 weeks. The exception is today where I'll celebrate the new section by posting two!

I'd like to thank
Bruno Amato and
Shaun Cozzens for providing us with the first two. You may recognize them: they respectively played Archie and the Porn Pizza Guy on the show. On each interview page, you'll find the interview plus a picture and YouTube link of a featured scene in which they partook.
This is an exciting venture for me, hopefully it'll entertain you too somewhat. The idea for these interviews is not to be a serious and full-length interview, but rather a light and hopefully humorous discussion of the their time on the show and their highlights.
Also confirmed for the next few weeks are the actors/actresses that play Seung Ho, Big Korea, Samir (Kaitlin's NYE date), the girl that Volchok cheated with at prom, Gary the ice-cream guy and more! Let us know what you think of it!

O.C. fans rejoice! As of yesterday, the Season 4 DVD Box set has been revised - so it no longer resembles the rather unfortunate looking prototype of weeks passed (see post below). Click the images below for higher sizes (opens in new window).
While I'm here I thought I may as well report progress on the documentary. Now please note to those who kindly email and comment, that I've been trying to work on it during my exam period (i.e. now), and so it's not the easiest thing to do at the moment. So please be patient, I definitely am not bailing on it, it may just take some time.
I have however, chosen a name:
"Our Dearly Beloved: An Exploration Of A Pop-Culture Phenomonen". Cute enough, dont you think? Haha. I've realised however, that with the slowly dying OC fanbase, Editorial Newport isn't likely to be visited all that frequently. Because I want as many people to have this memoir as possible, I don't want them to miss out.
So fill out the form below to join the mailing list - I'll email you when the documentary is finished, with perhaps one or two emails along the way to report on its progress.
This way you needn't worry about missing out or forgetting. Don't worry, I won't spam you or fill your inbox with malicious viruses from the pits of hell, all you'll get is OC-related goodness.
And finally, here are two songs that are considerably hard to find, played through Season 4:
+
"The West Coast" by Jason Schwartzman - MP3: Played at the end of 410: The French Connection.
+
"On A Saturday" by Jacob Golden - MP3: Plays during the packing scene in the series finale - absolutely stunning.
[Edit 2] Just thought I'd post quickly about the documentary. The original release date has past, but I'm still working on it, I promise. I'm not going to give another deadline in case it is again compromised, however I'm going to update very soon and through that post I'll set up a mailing list for me to get in contact with all of you on details about the documentary. Don't worry! - a lot of it has been made, it'll be released quite soon hopefully. Thanks so much for being patient!
[Edit] Comments are now working - Sorry!
Hey just quickly, I'm still working hard on the up and coming doco, so stay tuned for that. In the meantime, I'm also working hard to obtain the musical score that us fans all love so much that was used throughout the show, especially season one.
Hope you guys have stuck around, there's still so much to remember the show for. Speaking of which, here is the cover art for the fourth season DVD box set. Click the image for a larger version.

The cover has so far been judged us... controversial, to say the least. What do you guys think?
In other updates, the site's wonderful rock,
Delise has published her second-final piece (the final one being a series overview), and it is viewable over
here. If you haven't already read her material, it's amazingly analytical and glosses over a wide range of episodes.
For the sake of finality, I'll be publishing all editorial reviews in PDF format as well, so you can download Delise's review from
here or from
this page.
If you haven't already got them already, here's a few downloads for you:
+
"Life's A Song" by Patrick Park - MP3: The amazing song used in the closing scene of The O.C. When listened to singularly, it seems a bit odd, but fitted with the montage, it's hard to think of a more fitting piece.
+
"Shine On" by Jet - M4A: The tune that plays to Frank's chase for Julie - I thought this music was perfect and totally underrated. By local Aussie rokers, Jet.
+
"Marissa's Phone Ringtone" - MP3: Because I want to BE the show. Yeah I'm a freak.
Talk soon fellas, hope you're coping!

Series Finale details! Nikita you shall have your wish!
Before I start, I want everyone to wish the site and show's beloved writer
Drew A Happy 21st Birthday! Now the man can legally get alcohol, juvy, sex and adulthood all on one sweet day. Leave him a comment telling him how awesome he is, as it'll be the last birthday he'll have with the site and The OC.
What's To Come:
+
Finale/Retro reviews from
Drew,
Cormac,
Delise,
Jenni,
Sara and
Arya.
+ At least two more
Editorial Newport Live! podcasts from Drew and I, to celebrate the finale and the series as a whole. Break out the tissues folks.
+ And as mentioned in the last post:

+
The OC Documentary: A considerably long (by my standards anyway) documentary on the show a sa whole, with unforgetful clips from the show's four seasons. To guide you along this video will be the esteemed authorities of the writers Drew, Sara, Jenni and myself, as well as sepcial guest speakers Sonny (owner of the famous blog
Silly Pipe Dreams) and music newcomer Fredo Viola (who's "The Sad Song" played in "The Shake Up" and "The Night Moves"). There are a few other talks in the works to bring even mroe to this production.
This is
where I could use your help. If any of you have microphones to record onto your computer, you can assist this epic project. As an OC fan, record in one minute or less, what made The OC special for you. I'm trying to get as many voices as I can here to help close a section in the video. Email these clips in MP3 format to
editorialnewport@gmail.com. It'd be much appreciated!
This documentary will be free to download on this website and is to be completed for the 11th of March. Stay tuned for it!
+ As for the website itself? Well I had pretty immediate plans to leave it stagnant after the show's over, but there's no reason why it's legacy should be stopped so abruptly. So soon after the show's over, a Writer's Blog will open for the staff's writers to post a few post-show thoughts and essays with you, to carry you over into the DVD stage where we will probably say goodbye. Ah I'm not looking forward to saying goodbye to this show at all.
A few updates:
+
Delise's caplet editorial for
412: The Groundhog Day.
+
Delise's caplet editorial for
414: The Shake Up.
+
Delise's editorial for
415: The Night Moves.
+ All fo the latest episode's episode guides have been updated
here.
+ Music listings have been updated
here.
Check out an admirable, but late runner-up to Janurary's competition. This is James Trim's Ryan & Marissa video dedication - have a look
here. This video has won commendation from several other sites as well.
And with this update I leave you. Check back over the next few weeks for series finale updates that we all so painfully have to say goodbye to.
[Edit 2] I'm making an ultimate one-ring-to-rule-them all The OC Documentary slated for download just after the series finale AND I WILL NEED YOUR HELP. More in the next post, stay tuned.[/Edit]
[Edit] I'd also like to announce the talented Emma from Sweden as our competition winner! She submitted a collective of eleven fan-made videos. For this, she's won an entirely free copy of The OC: Mix 6. You can view links to her videos on the
competitions page.
My favourite vid is the awesome
"Stand By Me" vid which can also be found embedded on the comp page. Congrats once again!
[/Edit]
Firstly, I owe you all apologies for the absense in update. It's not because I was busy or anything, but I think the OC's cancellation just hit me all of a sudden, and I've been lacking passion and felt somewhat deflated to do anything about this site. I'm going to try my best to give the site its best shot for the ending of the series.
As for Editorial Newport's fate? Well I'll be updating until just after the show ends, with some form of show dedication piece (haven't decided what form yet). And then afterwards the site will not be updated anymore. However it'll stay open as a reliable OC information resource until about October of this year (which is when the domain expires). But I'll post more on all that depressing stuff later on.

You can click the above banner to directly download the new podcast episode, which is a Drew Solo commentary on the latest episode "The Case of the Franks". In the page that the banner links to, you'll find links to download directly or to download from iTunes Store. Enjoy it! It's a great insight.
Another apology actually goes to the very consistent
Delise who would still manage to send me reviews if her house had burnt down, God forbid. But these have been waiting in my inbox for a little while, so enjoy them too!
+
Delise's review of
408/409: The Earth Girls Are Easy/The My Two Dads.
+
Delise's review of
410/411: The French Connection/The Dream Lover.
+
Delise's review of
413: The Case of the Franks.
All episode guides have been updated too, you can view them
here.
If you haven't already heard, the series finale episode, set to air on February 22nd at the usual time, will be called "The End's Not Near, It's Here". Sounds fitting enough, I don't know how I'll get through it though. Hopefully Drew and I will churn out a new podcast soon and hopefully I can soon guarantee some chunky updates to whet your O.C. pallettes for one of the last times. Stay well!

I'm in a massive rush, so this will be quick. The Almighty
Drew has posted another epic editorial, this time for The Earth Girls Are Easy & The My Two Dads & The French Connection. Read it
here.
A fuller update will be posted very soon.

Of course this is a bit late, but for those naive [yet happier] OC fans out there, I'm sorry that you have to read this:
The sun will set for the last time on THE O.C. when the series ends its four-season run Thursday, Feb. 22 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. The countdown has begun, with all-original episodes airing from Thursday, Jan. 4 through the last episode on Feb. 22.
THE O.C. stars Peter Gallagher (Sandy Cohen), Kelly Rowan (Kirsten Cohen), Benjamin McKenzie (Ryan Atwood), Adam Brody (Seth Cohen), Melinda Clarke (Julie Cooper), Rachel Bilson (Summer Roberts), Autumn Reeser (Taylor Townsend) and Willa Holland (Autumn Reeser).
Set in Orange County, California, THE O.C. premiered in August 2003. It follows a group of friends and families whose lives were changed by the arrival of an outsider – Ryan Atwood – to their ocean-side community of Newport Beach.
THE O.C. revived the teen drama genre while including humorous and heartfelt adult storylines. Shortly after its summer premiere, THE O.C. was a pop culture phenomenon – its actors are household names and its indie music (and subsequent six soundtracks) and hip California wardrobe are sought-after in stores. The show’s Newport Beach locale also has become a popular tourist attraction as fans visit the real locations featured in their favorite episodes.
"THE O.C. Season Four finale will also be the series finale. This feels like the best time to bring the show to its close,” said Josh Schwartz, creator and executive producer of THE O.C. “Thanks to the hard work of our cast, crew and writers, we have enjoyed our best season yet, and what better time to go out than creatively on top. It has been an amazing experience and a great run. For a certain audience, at a certain time, THE O.C. has meant something. For that we are grateful.
Alas, it all must come to an end, though not to say I'm not extremely bitter.
To celebrate The OC's amazing run, a short series of retrospective podcast episodes will be released over the course of Jan-Feb to celebrate the four seasons. I guess this is the biggest thing I can do to give myself some sort of closure.
In updates, the episode guide for "The My Two Dads" is
here, while the music listing update is
here. Also a new affiliate:
The OC Blogger.

Happy New Year everyone! Turns out my brand new server decided to turn around and stab me in the back for my Christmas present. But never fear - everything is fixed now and the site shall go down no more.

This has been a long time coming, hey? Let's go through the new changes:
+
New Layout: As you can probably see (if you can't, I worry for your health), there is a new layout up! It encompasses the fourth season, hope you like it! It took a while to design, but I think it turned out quite nicely in the end.
+
Banners: Before you get defensive that I'm just trying to insert advertising into any nook/cranny so I can ultimately reap millions of dollars, hold on. These banners which are located above this block of text (they rotate upon refresh) are all related to The OC or Editorial Newport. You might find them quite handy, and they give each page a fresh look.
+
Organisational Changes: See I kept to my promise! Haha. Aside from a few tidbits here and there, you'll notice the navigation has been expanded. This way all the cool features which usually go unnoticed become more prominent and easier to access!
+
Podcast Site: The external site which looked unprofessional and was hard to navigate is no more! I've placed the podcast website right within the EN structure. You can view it
here. As well as this, I've updated a LOT of stuff within that subsection - you'll find a new Features page, a revamped Hall of Fame and more.
+
Competition! Here's a chance for all you hardcore OC fans to pick up a free copy of The OC Mix 6. Go
here for more info.
+
Feel: The OC Music Guide: Some more

Sara's The Gringos/Cold Turkey Review,
Delise's The Metamorphosis Review,
Delise's The Sleeping Beauty Review,
Delise's The Summer Bummer Review and
Delise's The Chrismukk-huh? Review. Enjoy!
+ The creative Mii Mii has contributed some new MSN icons which you can view
here.
What
hasn't been included is the pre-announced News system. What took this particular layout so long were the attempts to install the a new updating system. Alas, this couldn't be achieved for this layout, so it'll have to wait until later on unfortunately, so apologies.
Tell us what you think of everything! We'd really value feedback in the comments.

I really didn't want to update until later in the week when it could coincide with the new layout, but I think I have to post this up. The long-overdue new podcast episode is now up and ready for download on iTunes! Click the button below to download
Episode 5: The New Era:

If the iTunes link isn't to your taste, then you can directly download it from
this Sendspace link. Let us know what you think!
Also guys, in case you haven't already fount out, Fox has set up a "Save The OC" petition site of sorts.
Go and sign. Right now. Everyday. Constantly.
Haha see you guys later with the new layout!

Crap, looks like this will be a quickie as well... I promise "The Big One" will be upcoming, it was just too pressured tonight. However I do have for you:
+
Delise's review of
403: The Cold Turkey.
+
Sara's review of
401: The Avengers.
Also check out
Drew's review of 401: The Avengers in a unique format: Audio Commentary. Download it through iTunes for now. More downloading resources will be available in the next update.

The next update will be on Sunday, so look out for lots of new content.

A quick little update 'cos I'm in a hurry, here are some awesome reviews for 401 and 402 from
Delise:
+
Delise's review of
401: The Avengers.
+
Delise's review of
402: The Gringos.
More editorials from Sara to come, along with our other writers. I should be ready soon to shift to a new faster server, so that's exciting too. Expect videos to be updated soon, as well as song extracts and episode guides. Stay tuned!
[Edit] Fully updated the episodes guide for
401: The Avengers and episode guides
402: The Gringos and
403: The Cold Turkey have had their spoiler-info updated. Music listings for 401 will be available tomorrow with accompanying downloads.
Welcome back! Thanks for hanging around while the site was down - sincere apologies, but the bandwidth was eaten away mid-October, so it could only be renewed for the 1st day of November. However it is up again now, and here are a few updates:
+
Sara's Season Four Preview, which you can find
here. It details her expectations and thoughts as to what will make this season a great one.
+ A new
Feel Focus, this week on Coldplay! Have a look at it, they're simply amazing. Also check out
Feel News: Arya has updated with the new OC Mix 6 cover and music-related casting news!
A few changes have been stirring behind the scenes at Editorial Newport. I've been busily working away at a few new things that may tickle your fancy that's to come up over the next few weeks. Here's a few of them:
+
A New Layout: A visual refresh is in-store for EN, featuring artwork that reflects the awesome new season. I'm sure that you'll all like it as much as the last few layouts.
+
A News Source: The new layout will accomodate a comprehensive newsline for all things related to The OC. It'll feature the latest articles about the show, along with promotional pictures and the latest spoilers. A constantly-updating news bar will be prominent.
+
Organisation Change: There will be some minor changes to how things are displayed on the page to make browsing easier for you. A new update-system will be installed so that multiple staff members can post updates freely, making EN even more up-to-date than ever.
+
Improved Consistency: The site will be streamlined to deliver consistent sections that are all easily operable and easy to use no matter where you go. For instance, the podcast site will be moved to the main site and general scripts will be refined for all browsers.
+
New Server: You may have noticed the site goes down towards the end of every month - this is due tto the fact that EN gets so much traffic that our current server can't cope. As will coincide with the new layout, a new unlimited-bandwidth server will be installed! So no matter how many times the podcast or videos and such are downloaded, there is no risk of downtime.
+
New Sections: New sections, which are still to be finalised, are in the works. Among them is an improved and expanded video section, including subsections for the massive fan-made video market out there.
+
Editorial Newport Live!: Expect a brand new episode in two weeks! It'll feature a live interview with
Corey Price who plays Eric Ward in the fourth season.

What hasn't changed? We'll still be bringing you the best information and content related to The OC! We're aiming to make this the best OC site out there, so tell us what you think of these potential changes! I know I'm certainly looking forward to it!
